As founder of Local Lens PR, I can't wait to share with you all LLPR has to offer. My background in journalism and public relations has shown me how both sides of the communications aisle work. I relocated to Topeka in 2019, becoming Topeka’s lead business and economic development reporter. As a newspaper journalist, I sought to report local stories other journalists weren’t, keeping fairness, community relations, and thoughtful societal solutions top of mind. I then transitioned into the public relations space and, over just a few years, advanced through the ranks to become VP of Marketing and Communications for the Greater Topeka Partnership, the area’s government-adjacent nonprofit tackling community strategy, economic development, chamber of commerce, and tourism work. Passion for community is at my core, and each step in my journey has been a testament to that.

My career path is important to mention, because that trajectory inspired LLPR. Firsthand, I discovered a lack of tailored public relations support for the very entities I seek to serve — small businesses, nonprofits, and community-oriented organizations looking to invest in communications and PR services to spur growth in their organizations and initiatives. LLPR bridges a gap in the market by providing services like message crafting, communications-strategy consulting, copywriting and copy editing, press-release writing, media coaching, and media relations.

You might wonder, “Why the name Local Lens?” It’s simple. Local denotes the neighborly approach to how I strive to communicate and operate as a business owner. It also reflects the community-oriented clients I hope to serve. Lens, meanwhile, is quite literally a curved piece of glass that disperses outward the light pointed at it. The material, glass, denotes a consistent level of transparency. The lens itself represents a pivotal piece of the LLPR mission. Local Lens PR works to amplify the authentic light shining from each client, crafting and highlighting each story, pitch, and project with care and community at the core, while spurring connection and growth along the way.
